Playing with scraps

I started this last weekend and finished the last two today. I decided to try to use the scraps from the album and go ahead and create some cards. I wish I could remember where I saw this card layout online but thought it was cute. Of course I still have more scraps and hope to come up with some more cards but this will do for now.

Playing

Last Saturday Rebecca and I were able to squeeze in some scrapbook time. Of course I dawdled and only managed to make an envelope and start planning an album (picking paper, cutting some out). I wanted to make something just because so I used Amy Butler Sola by K&Company. One thing I like is there is also a small 4.75 x 6.75 coordinating pad that works so well for picture matting. Well after Rebecca left I finally got in the groove and worked from about 9:30 pm until 2:30 am and almost completed the whole thing. I couldn't see straight any more so Sunday afternoon I finished up the last page.

It was fun to create something just because. I took my cue from some of the things Rebecca has done and kept it simple. I'm still really itching to do something more altered but I guess my inspiration hasn't hit yet.

Couldn't help it...

This is my coworker Bernardo. He is usually very stylish but today his ensemble is a little bright. He has had no end of ribbing today. He said his wife asked him if he was going to play golf today and one of the other guys said his wife wouldn't have let him leave the house.

Testing the mobile blogger process. Here is a picture I made in class at Archivers one time.

Staying ahead... or not

Okay, so now I'm trying Windows Live Writer to post to Blogger. I'll let you know how I like it.
To also play catch up here are some pictures of my completed scrap room. The dining room is still a work in progress and I'm not sure my scrap room will every be totally cleaned up. Oh well.
Tidy...

It's amazing what you can cram (I mean organize) in these cupboards.

This is called working and playing at the same time.

Scooter loves the new bed I made him (supposed to be file cabinets disguised as a window seat) (they also double as seating if I need to turn my desk into another dinner table for those huge family get togethers).

I used the cube system I already had but ordered rails for them that you attach and slide a panel into. Works like a charm. I ordered them from Seville Classics.

There, of course, is still more to do. Replace the ceiling light fixture, get another bookcase, drill holes in the cupboards so I can run the printer and scanner cables behind, and put wheels on the table so I can get to those darned file cabinets (I mean window seat).

Had to give up Live Writer at least for now. It can't upload images to Blogger. I also didn't like that you have to insert one picture at a time. It was slightly easier to write in but that is all that I can see at the moment.

Must keep up

Well, I can't let Rebecca stay ahead of me so now I have mobile blogger too. Let's see if there is a battle at the next crop for who posts incriminating pictures first.

Weekend Joys

Well, this weekend was not long enough as usual. There are always so many things I need to do and so many things I want to do so I did a little of both and not nearly enough of both. Friday night was a nice evening with friends and laughter and watching some beautiful children at play.

Saturday was a pleasant day spent in my scrap room. I had visions of creating all kinds of stuff but only managed one thing, my first altered composition book. It is not over the top like my original plan but I like it anyway. I may still play with it some but we shall see. I did manage to create the butterfly bead section on my own with wire and some of the beads I've collected from the Plaid Outlet closing. I haven't decided it if will be someone's Christmas present or if it will be the first item set aside to sell at some point.

Saturday was also a beautiful sunny day so I took a few pictures of deck flowers that mom planted. She outdid herself this year with such pretty bright colors. She usually does softer shades which are pretty too but I'm partial to the vibrant shades.

Sunday I wanted to create some more but ended up doing some of those things I needed to do like peel rubber stamps off the wood blocks to put the hook and loop tape on them. If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it. All my stamps (at least for now) are in one notebook rather than taking up tons of shelf space. That way I can have lots more stamps. ;-)

Well, ttfn.

More Baby Albums

Here is the album I worked on over my lovely scrap retreat. I used the Kaleidascope paper and various flowers and ric rac. It's been fun using papers that I might not normally use since my photos are mostly travel pics.

This is the previous album I worked on and finished the end of April. I used the Basic Grey Oh Baby Girl for a little more subdued color palette and placed picture mats for 4x6 photos to make it easier to know where to place things. I started this one at one of our gatherings at Archivers and found I'd left my naked binder at home so I purchased a cloth covered one since I needed to be sure of my page sizes and tried something a little different with stamping with paint for the cover. I used one of the new Fancy Pants acrylic stamps and really like how big the corner ones are.

Welcome Home Ellen

My friend Rebecca's mom, Ellen, has returned from her several years long adventure in Germany. The first thing she wanted was a Mexican dinner at her favorite place in Tucker so Rebecca got us all together to welcome Ellen and Jan back and enjoy friends and fellowship. It was a lovely time and we all look forward to getting to see Ellen on a more regular basis. She has even promised to scrap with us.
