More fun...

Last weekend I had another lovely Saturday spending time creating.  These are my latest monotype prints using the 12x14 Gelli plate.  I am in my happy place when I manage to spend time creating.  My friend Stephanie was able to join me for the day and she had fun breaking in her new Gelli plate.
I really need to remember to take some progressive pictures.  This print started with a background using Nickel Azzo Gold, Paynes Grey and Bone Black.  I also used the Golden's Retarder to extend the drying time.  I cut out some circles and strips just from paper and laid them out then used Titanium White, yellow (don't remember which) and a bit of Bone to tone it down.

This print is really from cleaning the plate.  I covered it in Paynes Grey and let it sit a bit so I could pull the remnants from the previous print.

If I remember correctly this one is the result of lots of layers of ghost prints from the ones below.

This one and the two below are from covering watercolor paper with book pages and then doing about three or four different pulls.  I used gel medium to adhere the book pages and I don't like how some of the smaller stencils patterns seemed to smear or come out missing details so next time I will make sure I don't put the gel medium on the top of the pages.  All three of these utilized bought stencils.  One or two of them were Crafter's Workshop and the one that is in Magenta and looks like lace is a Martha Stewart stencil.

Oh, I almost forgot, Stephanie and I spent the morning playing with art journaling with Mary Freeman.  Mary has such a heart for God and always has a good message for us to think about and use for page prompts.

I was feeling a bit at a loss for what I wanted to do so I just played a bit with color and drippage.

I hope everyone had a blessed weekend and it continues on.  Hugs!

Summer is here...

Well, we are definitely out of spring and into the summer temperatures although it isn't as hot as it could be.

I'm still addicted to the Gelli plate and can't seem to step away from it.  There was a sale at Michaels a couple months ago and I bought a really big canvas (for me) and it still has the cellophane on it since it is too big for even the large plate.  I have read that you can use the new smaller ones as stamps.  Now all I have to do is find something big enough to turn the 12x14 one into a stamp and then I can use it on the big canvas.  I'll let you know if I manage that and how it goes.  ;-)

So a couple weeks ago was crafty time with the girls (Rebecca, Misti and Stephanie) and it seems I was in an orange and teal mood.  These four are done unless of course I start adding to them again.

I also had a little art journaling time with the fabulous Mary Freeman and I had fun playing with a little different color combination.  It is always such a lovely time with my girlfriends and the other ladies that come and it is fun to see all the different styles we have.
